Jello Biafra(born Eric Boucher) first came to be known as the singer and mastermind behind the San Francisco Punk Rock band Dead Kennedys.

In 1979, Biafra ran in the San Francisco mayoral election. Among his platform items were to require that businessmen wear clown suits downtown, and squatters rights(allowing homeless peple to live in abandoned buildings.).He lost, but did very well, especially considering there were few punk rockers in SF at that time.

Through the late 70s and early 80s, Dead Kennedys managed to develop quite a following, and politics was often at the root of their songs. In the 80s, Jello fought along with Frank Zappa and others against the Parent Music Research Center(PMRC), a pro-censorship organization run by current Second Lady Tipper Gore.
In addition to this, Jello was arrested for distributing "harmful matter" to minors because of an insert for the Frankenchrist album using HR Giger's "Penis Landscape" . It took awhile, but the case was eventually won by Biafra. He's done alot to protect American First Ammendment rights.
Jello has also been running Alternative Tentacles Records since the 70s, and has done many spoken word tours and has released several spoken word albums dealing with politics. Recently, he was nominated as a Green Party presidential candidate, quite to his surprise. He isn't actively campaigning, but he has confirmed his decision to run, and stated his platform.

Jello is a man who can get things done, make real changes for the U$A, and fight to make America a *real* democracy.
